Ranch Weekend

This past weekend was spent on a ranch. On the ranch (Blisswood), there are probably 8-10 different types of accomodations. We stayed in one that is themed as Texas Farmhouse. It has the antique feel, the stove and the fridge are from the 1920's, can you imagine that?! It is amazing. And the bathroom has the antique claw-foot tub! But we didn't maximize the use by having a bath in the antique tub and looking out the window... Instead we all took a quick shower... hahaha... what an irony? We went out to the country but still kind of having a city mindset... hehe...

The first day was good, was supposed to do horseback riding but the owner got a bit stressed out because there were four of us and there were another couple who apparently took out some sort of a special package. So in the end, we didnt do horseback riding on the first day. And thankfully we got to do horseback riding on the second day.

First day, we took our time, checked out some of the farm animals, emu, ducks, chickens, roosters, cattle, horses, goats and a potbelly pig... hahaha... We had picnic by the enchanted lake... In the evening, we had bbq and played Tai Di, Bridge and Heart Attack. It was fun and laid back. Very simple life... there was no TV nor internet but we still have fun chilling...

Second day was even better. Firstly we had horseback riding. It was fun, riding on the horses (they are barn horses), learned quite a bit of horses... and see the ranch where no cars or feet can bring you... which is pretty cool. And while we were doing horseback riding, Sharon and Tim went on a free trip to feed the animals on the ranch. They had fun too... and we joined them shortly after the horseback riding. And we found out about different breed of hens laid different colour eggs (brown, white and slightly blue).

And we saw more animals, like donkey and its foal, learned about Ginny, and there is also a camel out there... and we feed the camel too... Wow... and Kathy and Mike took us on a little tour of all the accomodations... My favourite is the Magnolia suite. They are really nice and friendly people. They are so kind to show us around and hence making a big difference to our experience on the ranch/farm. It was an amazing experience and a good learning experience about ranch/farm living.

I really like a deer which behaved very much like a dog. It is good friends with the black dog. It is a runt whose mum does not want... but it is soooo cute... kind of hard to understand why the mum does not want this cute baby of hers... anyway.. it is my favourite animal on the ranch. As Mike puts it, it thought it is a dog rather than a deer. It would let us pat it... so cute! And the horses are so handsome... hehe... the potbelly pig is amusing... and the donkey foals are cute too...

Kathy and Mike offered that if we come back again, they can help to arrange that we could help volunteer for one day of farm work with them. It was really kind of them to do that... It sure sounds fun but being a city gal, I might not be used to stepping on poo and getting my feet/shoes dirty...(i am a big fan of cleanliness...) I do not mind the animals except for the chickens/ ginny/ turkey and the perhaps the emu... I am have phobia of birds you see... hahaha... well... i am after all a city gal. :)
